Experience God Every Day

I received this devo from Zondervan this afternoon.
And, omigosh.. it has something to shout out loudly to me, cause this was my true experience. This was what I did before I got back here. I lived, but I wasn't living. Oh, please, just read this devo..

If we don't think about God, pray to God, listen for God's voice, and consciously serve God, by definition we live an ungodly life. We usually think of "ungodly" as being against God, but ungodly can also be a life that simply ignores God or — out of business, indifference, religiosity, or apathy — simply doesn't tap in to God. In this sense, it is possible to give an ungodly sermon that may be theologically accurate. It is possible to lead ungodly family devotions that nevertheless focus on spiritual truth. Christianity doesn't address only the ends; it has a lively interest in the means. That's why every healthy, growing believer should experience God every day — his presence, his power, his wisdom.

Ugh, what do you say?
For me, I'll change my way of living.
Oh, thank God, for speaking so clearly to me..

Shew me Thy ways, o Lord,; teach me Thy paths.
Lead me in Thy truth, and teach me; for Thou art The God of my salvation: on Thee do I wait all the day..
Ps. 25:4,5

Is A Donkey Better Than You?

What is your excuse for not being a great man or woman of God? You are imperfect? You are sinful? You lack the talents?

If God wants to raise you up to be His witness, He can. With all of your weakness, God still can work miracles through you. God can speak through an ass if He wants to. And He did. That is how he spoke to Balaam the prophet at the book of Numbers (Num. 22:28-30).

And the Lord opened the mouth of the ass, and she said: What have I done to thee? Why strikest thou me, lo, now this third time? Balaam answered: Because thou hast deserved it, and hast served me ill: I would I had a sword that I might kill thee. The ass said: Am not I thy beast, on which thou hast been always accustomed to ride until this present day? tell me if I ever did the like thing to thee.

And that is encouraging!

My friend once said, “God does not call the equipped, but equips the called.” You don’t have to be a genius or to be super holy to do God’s work. The only thing God needs from you is a willing heart. From there God will give you the grace and the talents that you will need to do His work. God is the God of the impossible.

God is not limited by your limitations. In every one of us lies the seed of greatness, waiting to spring up. He is only waiting for you to say “Yes Lord, I am here to do your will."

Your greatness lies before you.

If an ass can do it, so can you!

When We Feel Helpless

Have you ever felt totally helpless? Can you remember facing a situation or emergency in which you were powerless? It's a sobering experience for anyone. Even people who claim to be wholly dependent on God, still like to feel as if they have some control over their circumstances.

When we feel helpless, the first word out of our mouth should be "Father." From then on, helplessness isn't an issue, because God will provide what we need.

And what I can say is Amen!

Do You Still Have Patience?

This was a free devotional I got from Crosswalk.com, but it's so inspiring, so I want to share it with you here..

May 2, 2008 - The Rewards of Patience -- Hebrews 6:13-15

Welcome to the In Touch Devotional. Patience is a hard lesson for us to learn. We don't like patience. We don't have time for patience! Life is fast, time's running out, and we've got to get this show on the road, right?

This is clearly how most of us act, even if we don't express it. Perhaps that's why Scripture includes so many examples of godly patience and reward. Over and over, we see the Father making promises to His children, only to have them wait years, sometimes decades, for the promise to be fulfilled. But the result of that patience is always blessing.

Consider Abraham. At age 75, he was given God's promise of a son. 10 years later, he was still waiting. Fifteen years passed, then 20, and still no son. Finally, when Abraham was 100, a quarter-century after God had made the promise, baby Isaac was born. Surely Abraham had times of doubt during those 25 years. Yet he continued to trust God and kept watching for the fulfillment of His promise.

There are plenty of other examples. As a young man, Jacob met the girl of his dreams, but he worked many years before making her his bride. Joseph had a God-given vision of blessing at age 17 but languished 13 years in slavery and prison before receiving the reward. David was anointed King of Israel as a teenager but spent the next 14 years or so running for his life before taking the throne.

Shortcuts never lead to where God wants us to be. The long road, however, is filled with faithful servants. Are you waiting on the Lord today? Be encouraged. You're in good company.
